Spotlight on…. BENIDORM Julia’s Top Pick
Benidorm has long been one of my favourite places to escape to, and every November I find myself returning to soak up the incredible atmosphere of the famous Benidorm Fiestas. The whole town comes alive with music, colourful parades, fireworks and traditional Spanish celebrations, creating an energy that is simply unforgettable.
When I visit, I love staying at the beautiful H10 Porto Poniente, perfectly located overlooking the golden sands of Poniente Beach. Waking up to the sea views is always a highlight, and stepping straight onto the promenade for a morning stroll along the seafront is the perfect way to start the day. The hotel itself feels really special, with stylish rooms, a stunning rooftop terrace and infinity pool, and one of the best views across the bay. It’s the perfect place to relax after a busy day enjoying the fiesta atmosphere.
One of my favourite things about staying at the H10 Porto Poniente is how easy it is to walk everywhere. The Old Town is just a short stroll away, where you’ll find the famous Tapas Alley. During the fiestas the narrow streets are packed with locals and visitors enjoying delicious tapas, a glass of wine, and the friendly buzz that Benidorm is known for. The smell of freshly prepared Spanish dishes fills the air and the atmosphere is incredible.
The fiestas themselves are such a fun experience, especially the fancy dress. Everyone really gets involved, with groups dressing up in colourful costumes and filling the streets with laughter and music. It’s impossible not to get swept up in the celebrations, and the whole town feels like one big party.
For me, Benidorm in November isn’t just a holiday — it’s a tradition. Between the lively fiesta celebrations, the fantastic fancy dress, relaxing walks along Poniente Beach, evenings in Tapas Alley, and the comfort and views from the H10 Porto Poniente, it’s a place that keeps calling me back year after year.
